September 24, 2012 - Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery to Open Registration on October 2, 2012

 Recently, the Department of State announced that the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program registration period will open on October 2, 2012 at 12:00 noon EDT and close on Saturday November 3, 2012 at Noon EDT.

 
The Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery is a program created by Congress which makes available up to 55,000 diversity visas (DVs) annually.  The the winners are randomly selected from all entries of persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
 
To be eligible to win the diversity lottery entrants must also meet one of two requirements:
 
1. Possess a high school education or equivalent education; and
2. Possess two (2) years of work experience earned within the past five (5) years for a position that requires at least two (2) years of training or experience.
